Massage Therapy Certification
Massage certificate from the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) is required by a massage therapist to open massage therapy. This certificate is needed in most states to be licensed. You can have massage therapy certification if you pass exams from massage therapy school. In Canada or USA there are a lot of accredited massage therapy schools.
Someone who wants to get a certified massage therapist (CMT) is regulated by regulations and laws. This regulation is different for each state in the US region. I’m not talking about massage therapy certification that can you get from one specific area of massage. I’m talking about massage certificates and diplomas. If you get this certificate, you are not still legally qualified to practice in many states.
The NCBTMB requires that candidates acquire a minimum number of 500 hours of training from an approved school. Approved schools are accredited by the state or the US Department of Education. A minimum 500 hours are ten hours of ethics and business, 200 hours of massage and bodywork assessment (including theory and application), 125 hours of body system such as kinesiology, physiology and anatomy. 40 hours of pathology, 125 hours of additional instruction, and also six hours of ethics. To prove your competency in practical skills, pass the NCBTM exam is a must. In addition to the exam, you also have to know about knowledge and understanding of professional massage practices.
Before you open a massage center, make sure that you qualified necessary regulation or other prerequisites. Although you’ve received NCBTMB certification, some states require you to take continue education. You can ask the instructors or the administrators to guide you.
In brief, you can check some massage therapy schools or college on the internet. I hope you can get massage therapy certification. Good luck.
