Cognitive therapy aims to identify and change the views of patients and their distorted thinking associated with their particular disorder.
Therapist will give the private therapy session on a weekly basis. Each week, the patient gives specific examples of how disturbances disrupt their lives. The patient and the therapist will then discuss the problem to find the reason why the patient has a negative reaction. They also discuss the techniques of behavioral changes that patients can use it in everyday life to change a particular behavior
The patient can also have a group session in a week. They can discuss the problems and received perception and feedback about their progress. It is an advantage. Patient can interact with other people in control. In order to against the current negative behaviors and thought, the patients also can different skills.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy also helps patients maximize their feelings of self respect.
It depends on the relationship between the patient and the therapist to gain optimum results. The patient learned how to change the behavior using different techniques.
